Bandipur National Park

Bandipur National Park is one of the animal populous sanctuaries in the India. This Park covers 6000 km2 of Forest reserve. There is special interest for tigers and important projects for Tiger reserve. This National Park is Bandipur situated in Chamarajanagar District of Southern Karnataka. As per 1997 censes 70 Tigers and 3000 Asian Elephants got home here. Leopard, Dholes, Gaur, Sloth Bear are the main Animals in this Park. Kabini, Nagur, Moyar rivers flow through this reserve. Climate is very pleasant in this place, 10 degrees in Winter and 28 degrees in the Summer. Bandipur reserve also the secret place, there are many hidden Histories, So this is under consideration by UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Tiger, Elephant, Four horned Antelope, Gaur, Panther, Sloth Bear, Crocodile, Mouse Deer, Python, Osprey are the Endangered Species in Bandipur. Grey Junglefowl, Honey Buzzard, Red headed Vulture, Pompadour Green Pigeon, Grey headed Fish Eagle, Brown Hawk Owl, Malabar Trogon, Malabar Pied Hornbil, Nilgiri Flycatcher, Little Spiderhunter, Plain Flowerpecker is the Special Birds. Common Cobra, Python, Adder, Viper, Rat Snake, King Cobra, Water Snake, Marsh Crocodile, Lizard, Chameleon, Monitor Lizard, Frog, Tree frog, Toad, Tortoise are the main Reptiles. These all the fauna in the Bandipur National Park.

Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta(Hill) is the popular trekking spot, located inside the forest. This is accessed by the small road through the village of hangala. There is also motorable road to top of the hill. Lord Venugopala Swamy Temple situated top of the hill and travelers Bungalow built by rulers of Mysore is also located in the hill. Travelers Bungalow still Closed.

Bandipur is accessible well road, Private buses, Vehicles available to reach there. Nearest Railway Station in Mysore, Nearest Airport in Bangalore, it is also accessible through madumalai (TamilNadu State)
