Metro is under Construction Project to be Complete in 2011 of phase-1 and phase-2 will start in 2012. Bangalore Train or Namma Metro (Namma means ‘Ours’ in Kannada Language) will be Operating by Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL). This train service is constructing in Bangalore city, this is the second city to have Metro train facility in India. Main reason to start this service is to avoid traffic in road, reduced journey times, cutting fuel use, accident reduction and lower pollution. This work stared in 2007. There are 40 stations with total length of 43km including 6km underground corridor. This is runs by the Electric engine with top speed of 80 km/h and power of the engine is 730 V DC. This train will be air conditioned with Wi-Fi and voice communication with train stuff. Track gauge is standard gauge which is one of the most modern gauges. The Total cost of the Project is 5400 crore (1.2 Billion US Dollors). There is proposal for new line connecting to Bangalore International Airport.
Phase -2 Construction is estimated to start in 2012, the new lines of this construction under review.
