Karnataka ruled by very powerful dynasties, rulers of dynasties built many strong and Beautiful forts in Karnataka. The major dynasties who built forts are Rashtrakutas, Chalukyas, Hoysalas, Gandas, Kadambas and Vijayanagara dynasty. Srirangapatana fort is built by the haider ali (father of Tippu Sultan). Adil Shahi’s Dynasty built forts in Bijapur which made great history; architecture of the fort is very beautiful and creative. Kallina Kote of Chitradurga is one of the famous fort and this has great story of Onake obava (who saved fort by the enemies). Madikeri fort is situated in the heart of Madikeri town but this fort is now using as government office including District Commissioner of Coorg. Srirangapatana fort and Savanadurga fort are the near forts to Bangalore.

Most of the forts built to avoid attack by the enemies. All of the forts built stronger using stones, woods and metals. Elephants are the main thing to carry big and heavy weighing stones and other equipments to built forts. Dynasties are Used Elephants in the war zone and to construct forts and temples in the Ancient Period.
